Christopher Larochelle
Primarily self-taught, Christopher
spent a short time at an art school in Massachusetts before moving to Los Angeles to study the art
of Cinema Makeup and Special Effects Makeup. While living in California, he gradually transitioned from painting faces to
painting canvases. After exhibiting his work in various shows in L.A. he made the move back to the East Coast searching
for new inspiration.
Now living in Southern Maine...
Christopher’s style ranges
from childlike Surrealism to Abstract Expressionism. The subject of a series is never studied beforehand, it eventually
appears after paint has been applied to the surface. Only long after the work is finished does he consider the subtext of
a piece or the subconscious motivation behind the work. The viewer can form a more personal connection
with each piece by creating their own story.
